The week of 19–25 October adds 19 movies and TV shows on Netflix, Prime Video, JioHotstar and other platforms, and several of them turn on investigations, prisons and organised crime.

On 23 October, Manoj Bajpayee stars in Gajab Raat, a crime thriller from creator Neeraj Pandey and director Ritesh Shah. Set over a single night, it follows a police officer investigating a complex attack on a mysterious girl. Saqib Saleem, Akshay Oberoi, Divya Dutta, Kiku Sharda and Nushrratt Bharuccha play suspects and other people whose interests complicate the case. It streams on Netflix.

The same day, Prime Video releases Chaar Yaar, an eight-episode Amazon Original set in Mumbai. Purav Jha stars with Naman Jain, Saqib Ayub, Prayrak Mehta, Sikandar Kher, Sai Tamhankar, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Rajesh Tailang and Chunky Pandey. Four friends move through the local criminal underworld, with shifting loyalties, as they try to secure their finances and rise inside an organised crime syndicate.

Lupin: Part 4 arrives on Netflix on 22 October. Omar Sy returns as Assane Diop for eight episodes that pick up after he fakes his death to protect his ex-wife Claire and their son Raoul from media attention and violent retaliation. Antoine Gouy and Théo Christine reprise their roles as Assane keeps working from the shadows.

Other crime-adjacent premieres include Love in Disguise on Prime Video on 19 October, a twelve-episode South Korean series led by Seol In-ah and Im Si-wan in which a young woman goes undercover to scrutinise a wealthy corporate heir and his business secrets. On 21 October, Netflix streams The New Stanford Prison Experiment, a six-part unscripted series that places thirty volunteers in a correctional setting as guards or prisoners, drawing on Philip Zimbardo’s 1971 study. Apple TV’s Where’s Wanda? season 2, also on 21 October, follows the Klatt family after daughter Wanda is found standing over a dead body; parents Carlotta and Dedo, played again by Heike Makatsch and Axel Stein with Lea Drinda, try to prove her innocence and the search reaches the criminal underworld of their suburban town. Prime Video’s The Terminal List season 2, the same day, sends former Navy SEAL James Reece, played by Chris Pratt, across Africa, Europe and the Middle East to uncover a conspiracy connecting Moscow to Langley.

On Netflix on 21 October, the Polish family drama The Mother of Penguins returns for a second season. Masza Wagrocka and Barbara Wypych star in a story about parents of children with special needs, centred on a mixed martial arts fighter whose hardest fights come outside the octagon as she advocates for her son in a new school system.
